We will meet at a chosen beach at the chosen time. We can walk in together and pick the best spot of the beach for your beach wedding. We will make sure we're all set in the best lighting for the photographer and begin the ceremony!
For a beach wedding ceremony, we like to keep the ceremony intimate, short and sweet so that you can spend more time getting amazing pics with your photographer. Typically 1 hour of photography is enough for an elopement to be able to cover the 15 minute ceremony and then 45 minutes of beach photos. If you have guests, we suggest adding on 30-60 minutes with your photographer as it takes a lot more time to coordinate and wrangle family. You don't want to miss out on getting enough photos of you!
Here’s a basic outline of the ceremony, it will be personalized from here:
*The Meaning of Aloha
*Lei Exchange (if you choose a package with leis included)
*Vows
*I Do’s
*Ring Exchange
*Pronouncement
The process of getting your marriage license in Maui, Hawaii is much different than on the mainland. Since we're a small island, we don't have a government building you can visit. So, once you've applied for your license online, you will set an appointment to meet with a Hawaii State Marriage License Agent. They will meet you at a designated place of their choosing sometime after arriving in Maui and before the ceremony. They typically take appointments Monday through Saturday on various sides of the island. When you meet with your agent, you’ll need a form of identification – official passport, Driver’s license or military ID – as well as the name of your wedding officiant. If either of you have previously been recently divorced, you will need an official copy of your divorce decree. Don't worry, we will help walk you through the whole process!
Maui is almost always beautiful with the most amazing weather...that's what makes it paradise. However, with Mother Nature, you just never know. It's impossible to know if there will be rain or wind the day of your elopement. If you decide to elope in Maui, you must go into it with an open heart, be flexible, and know that no matter what, you get to marry the love of your life. Here in Hawaii, we believe rain is good luck as it washes away the old and brings new life. Plus, the rain is almost always followed by a rainbow, which is why we're called the Rainbow State!
The weather in Maui can change very quickly. So, we like to wait until the very last minute to make any calls as most of the time if there is rain, it clears quickly. Also, because of Maui's diverse micro climates, if it's raining on one side of the island, it's generally not raining on another side. This is why elopements with just the couple or a few guests is ideal as you can change locations easily and quickly. We will only reschedule if it's not safe to be outside or if it's too wet for the camera equipment. In that case, we will do our best to reschedule to another time or day.
Let's get real, anytime is a great time to get married in paradise! However, here's a few things to consider when planning the perfect date.
Maui is known for it's sunsets, so a sunset ceremony is the go to! Sunrises in Maui can be just as beautiful! Here's some pros and cons for both.
Whichever time you choose, even if it's busy, don't stress. We will find the perfect corner of the beach just for you! We always suggest avoiding between 8am-4pm as it tends to be the busiest and hottest time of day with the harshest lighting.
This is what we do...plan elopements! So, if you are planning last minute, we can help you plan a beautiful elopement! However, the more advance notice you have, the easier it is to accommodate specific dates and requests. In general, we suggest at least 2-3 months in advance. That will give you time as well to plan your accomadations, flights, activities, rental car, ect.!
