Eloping in Maui can feel exciting — and a little overwhelming — especially if you’ve never done this before. These are the questions couples most often have before they reach out. If you’re wondering something that isn’t answered here, I’m always happy to help.
Yes. Maui elopements are legally recognized in the state of Hawaii, the United States, and around the world. I’ll guide you through the marriage license process and make sure everything is handled correctly, including filing your license after the ceremony.
Most Maui elopement locations do require permits. I’ll help determine what’s needed for your chosen spot and handle the logistics so everything is taken care of properly.
That’s completely normal. Location guidance is part of the planning process. I’ll help you choose a spot based on how you want your elopement to feel — not just how it looks online — taking into account privacy, lighting, accessibility, and overall vibe.
Yes. I’m a licensed Hawaii officiant and personally officiate many elopements.
For couples who want their entire ceremony photographed from start to finish, a dedicated officiant can be included instead.
Almost everyone feels this way — and it’s okay. You don’t need to know how to pose or “perform.” I’ll guide you gently and create space for things to feel natural, relaxed, and real. Most couples tell me it feels more like hanging out or a fun date than a photo shoot.
Many couples book anywhere from a few weeks to several months or even a year in advance. If you have a specific date in mind, it’s always best to reach out sooner rather than later, especially during busy seasons.
Weather is part of island life — and it’s something I plan for, not something I panic about.
If we get wind, mist, or light rain, we go with the flow. I always bring clear umbrellas (they photograph beautifully), and some of the most emotional, cinematic elopements happen in weather that isn’t perfectly blue-sky.
If conditions aren’t ideal at your original location, we can pivot. Maui has multiple micro-climates, and I’ll guide us to an alternate spot that’s clearer and more comfortable when needed.
If the weather truly isn’t safe or workable, we also have options:
My approach is calm, flexible, and grounded. You won’t be left wondering what to do — I’ll guide the decision-making so you can stay present and enjoy the experience, no matter what the weather decides to do that day.
Yes. Elopements can be just the two of you or include a small group of loved ones. Hawaii limits beach ceremonies to 25 people.
You’ll receive a thoughtfully curated gallery that reflects your experience — including the big moments and the quiet in-between ones. My focus is on quality, storytelling, and how your day felt, not just a number. But, you can count on at least 70 professionally edited photos per hour of coverage.
Not necessarily. For intimate elopements, many couples value being fully present during the ceremony rather than documenting every second. If you’re writing personal vows, I’ll step back and photograph those moments, or we can arrange for a dedicated officiant if full ceremony coverage is important to you.
It comes down to how you want your day to feel.
I’m always happy to help you decide which experience fits you best.
Once you reach out, I’ll respond with availability, next steps, and guidance tailored to what you’re looking for. There’s no pressure — just info to see if we’re a good fit.
